Drizzle
Drizzle
11x14”. Oil on Linen. 2016
One of those occasions where I returned to the scene for a second day during which, according to the weatherman, the conditions would be the same as the day I began, with overcast skies. When conditions changed and a drizzly rain moved in, I had to decide whether to pack it in or chase the effect. I chose to chase the effect, and I think I managed to capture the sensation of light rain pretty well. This area had been a wonderful motif, sixty acres of paths, hills and ponds, owned by Martin Marietta and perennially victimized by druggies and lowlifes. Soon after I discovered the landscape paradise, the owners decided they’d had enough, and clamped down on trespassers of every stripe, including me. But it was sure fun while it lasted.
