While working on a large picture which, after seven sessions, collapsed under its own weight, I spotted a mother and child playing on the nearby shore of the Ohio River. It was a safe bet that they’d be there no longer than a half hour. There are many times, and this was one of them, in which having no time to plan, think or re-evaluate can work in your favor. When they left, and the mom didn’t beg me to sell it to her, it was clear that to me that one of us was not thinking very clearly.
